Square affair in Carthage consists of a 5k run/walk, a kid’s fishing rodeo, arts and crafts vendors, plenty of food, a kid’s zone with bungee jumping, and the annual Club 66 car show. There is always something for the entire family.

Carthage is the smallest community to participate in the program throughout the United States and Canada. Jane’s Walk honors the legacy and ideas of urban activist and writer Jane Jacobs who championed the interests of local residents and pedestrians over a car-centered approach to planning. Jane Jacobs Walk helps knit people together into a strong and resourceful community, instilling belonging and encouraging civic leadership.

Oktoberfest is Central Mississippi’s Oldest Indoor Festival. Located in the Center of Mississippi at the Carthage Coliseum.

The event starts at 5:30pm and continues around the courthouse square until the candy runs out.  Sweets and Treats will starts at the Carthage Post Office and travels down Pearl Street to Main Street, then turns North on Court Street and ends on East Franklin Street.

Over 22 businesses take part with hot apple cider and door buster specials.  They will also be competing for the title of Cidermeister.

The Chamber Brothers were born in Carthage and began their group here by singing in their church choir. The brothers relocated to Los Angeles, CA in the 1950s. The group was part of the wave of new music that integrated American blues and gospel traditions with modern psychedelic and rock elements.
