MEMA Director Greg Michel has retired. A major frontliner during the Covid-19 pandemic, he had been director since 2018. We reached out to Leake EMA Director Tommy Malone who said “anytime I called Greg he was receptive and did what he could do for me. I respected him for that. He would always call me back or respond if he wasn’t able to take a call.” While Michel’s retirement surprised many, Governor Reeves has nominated Stephen McCraney, who has been deputy director and chief of staff at MEMA since 2016.
