The Louisville Lady Wildcats are headed to the state championship.
Louisville rolled to a 52-35 victory over Newton County in the MHSAA Class 4A State Semifinal on Tuesday morning at the Mississippi Coliseum.
Louisville’s balanced offense and strong perimeter shooting proved to be the difference. The Lady Wildcats knocked down eight three-pointers and shot 21-of-45 from the field to pull away for the 17-point win.
Ikea Bullock led the way with a game-high 25 points, including five three-pointers. Makayla Sam added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Amber Haynes chipped in five points and five boards. Louisville finished with 31 rebounds and 10 assists as a team.
Newton County was led by Felisia King with 14 points and Nalayah Phillips with 10. The Lady Cougars struggled at the free throw line, going 2-of-9 from the stripe.
With the win, Louisville advances to the Class 4A State Championship game and will face Tishomingo County Friday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mississippi Coliseum.
