Community Blood Drives Scheduled in Ackerman, Meridian and Nearby Cities

Mississippi Blood Services is calling on residents to roll up their sleeves this month as several community blood drives are scheduled across East Mississippi, including stops in Ackerman and Meridian.

Officials say blood donations are always in demand because blood cannot be manufactured and must come from volunteer donors. Each donation can help save up to three lives and supports hospitals caring for patients across the state.

One of the upcoming drives closest to our area will take place Thursday, April 9, at SuperValu in Ackerman from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Organizers say this event offers a convenient opportunity for Choctaw County residents to donate without traveling far.

Another nearby opportunity is scheduled for Monday, April 13, at the City of Meridian Mayor’s Office from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., giving Lauderdale County residents a chance to help strengthen the local blood supply.

Additional drives are planned across the region, including Friday, April 10, at Grenada Medical Complex from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and later that day at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Mississippi Blood Services says all blood types are needed to help ensure hospitals maintain the lifesaving supply patients depend on every day. As a token of appreciation, donors will receive a special thank-you gift at the time of donation.
