FEMA Assistance Now Available For Individuals in Areas Hit by Winter Storm

Thirty-six Mississippi counties including Attala, Holmes, Carroll and Montgomery, along with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, have been approved for individual assistance from FEMA in the wake of January’s winter storm.   The assistance could include grants for home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the disaster.
Here’s the full list of approved counties: Adams, Alcorn, Attala, Benton, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Claiborne, Coahoma, Desoto, Grenada, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lee, Leflore, Marshall, Montgomery, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union, Warren, Washington, Yalobusha, and Yazoo Counties and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
Residents in the approved counties who sustained losses during the January 23-27 winter weather will be able to apply for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.  The disaster number is: DR-4899.
