Sen. Bradford Blackmon Secures $19.4 Million for Senate District 21, Delivering Major Wins for Carthage and Leake County

State Senator Bradford Blackmon (D-District 21) announced that during the 2026 Mississippi Legislative Session, $19,365,000 in state appropriations was secured for 24 critical projects across Senate District 21.

The funding package supports infrastructure, public safety, economic development, and community improvements in Holmes, Leake, Attala, and Madison counties. Blackmon highlighted the impact these dollars will have on the communities he serves.

“These funds will make a real difference for the communities I am blessed to serve,” Blackmon said. “I remain committed to working hard every single day for the constituents of District 21.”

Spotlight on Carthage and Leake County

A significant portion of the appropriations directly benefits Leake County and the City of Carthage, with an emphasis on roads, bridges, public safety, and essential equipment.

  • City of Carthage — Vehicles & Equipment: $250,000
  • Leake County — North Jordan Street & Coosa Road: $2,500,000
  • Leake County — Roads and Bridges Construction/Repair: $2,000,000
  • Leake County — Fire Trucks (Marydell & Lena VFDs): $1,000,000
  • Leake County Development Association — Workforce Marketing: $100,000

    North Jordan street in Carthage (leake) has already been redone, resurfaced etc…
