Tornado Threat Added to Today’s Severe Weather Risk

The National Weather Service says, while straight-line wind damage and hail will continue to be the primary threats, it’s not ruling out the risk of a brief tornado from severe storms which are possible in the local area and other parts of Mississippi this afternoon and tonight.   Most of the state is under a Level-2 “slight” risk of severe weather.  Wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour are possible.

Parts of this area will face another round of possibly severe weather on Sunday with a Level-1 “marginal” risk of damaging winds.   NWS has now trimmed back the threat of severe weather in Mississippi on Monday, showing only a Level-1 risk across some of the northern counties.
