Carthage Police Department Announces Citizens’ Academy

The Carthage Police Department has announced their new Citizens’ Police Academy program. It begins at 6 PM on June 2nd in the Matlock Park Community Center and will continue weekly on Tuesdays. The classes will alternate between being held at the Matlock and McMillan community houses.

The classes will cover traffic laws, constitutional protections, operations of the Fire Department, operation of the 911 Communications Center, CPD dispatch, basic understanding of the Use of Force of Law Enforcement, and other topics.

There is no charge for attendance, but participants must be at least 21 years old. Anyone looking to participate must get an application and have it turned back in before May 29th. Applications can be found at the CPD, or you can contact Michael Harper at 601-507-0744 to have it emailed to you. He can also provide additional information regarding the program.
