Boswell Media Sports has announced that Cooper Sanders will serve as the new radio play-by-play voice for Leake Academy football this fall.

Sanders brings several years of broadcast experience to the booth. He has worked as a sportscaster for the past four years and currently serves as the voice of East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) Lion basketball, baseball, softball, and soccer. In addition to his college responsibilities, Sanders has become a familiar presence in Mississippi high school sports broadcasting through his work with Boswell Media Sports.

Last season, Sanders served as the color analyst for Leake Academy football before taking on play-by-play duties for Rebels baseball this spring.

He also contributes as a play-by-play announcer for the Magnolia Sports Association All-Star Games, further expanding his experience across multiple levels of competition.

Sanders said he is excited to step into the full-time role and continue building on his relationship with the program.

“I’m extremely excited to continue working with Leake Academy football,” Sanders said. “It’s an honor to be trusted with the play-by-play role, and I’m looking forward to another great season covering the Rebels.”

In addition to his work behind the microphone, Sanders serves as youth minister at Union Baptist Church in Meridian.

Breck Riley, Boswell Media Sports Director, said Sanders is a strong fit for the broadcast booth moving forward.

“We’re excited to have Cooper step into this role,” Riley said. “He’s a talented young broadcaster who has already shown a great ability to connect with our audiences. We’re looking forward to watching him continue to grow within Boswell Media Sports.”

As part of his role as Voice of the Rebels, Sanders will also host the weekly Leake Academy Coaches Show with head coach Brian Pickens. That shows airs Thursday mornings on Cruisin’ 98.3, giving fans an inside look at the program throughout the season.

Leake Academy Rebels football will continue to air across the Boswell Media Sports network, including Cruisin’ 98.3, streaming live at Cruisin98News.com, and through the free Cruisin’ 98 mobile app. Fans can also watch games live on the Boswell Media Sports YouTube channel, providing multiple ways to follow the Rebels throughout the season.

The 2026 season opener is set for Friday, Aug.14, when Leake Academy hosts Jackson Academy in non-district action to kick off the new campaign.
