Update: MHP Sgt. Jameka Moore has identified the deceased as Delores Sprague, 55, of Decatur, MS. Sgt. Moore says the school bus was traveling northbound on HWY 487 and the Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on HWY 487 when the two collided head-on resulting in the death of Mrs. Sprague.
A two-vehicle crash involving a school bus and a pickup truck claimed one life Thursday morning in Leake County.
According to MS HWY Patrol, the crash happened at around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, on HWY 487.
The collision involved a school bus and a Chevrolet Silverado. Authorities said there were no children on the bus at the time of the crash.
The driver of the school bus reportedly sustained moderate injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
The driver of the pickup was pronounced deceased at the scene, and their identity will be released after the notification of family members.
MHP will continue to investigate the crash.
