Authorities are investigating the deaths of two people who were found dead in their home in the Zama community on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
At approximately 4:58 p.m., an individual arrived home and found a male and female who also lived at the residence unresponsive. The incident was reported to the Attala County Sheriff’s Office, and deputies and EMS were dispatched to the scene.
Attala County Coroner Sam Bell identified the two deceased individuals as Johnny Ray Reeves II, 38, and Nicole Massey, 39, of Attala. The causes of death are unknown at this time. Bell says the bodies have been transported to the state crime lab for autopsies.
The Attala County Sheriff’s Office and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are investigating the incident. We will update you as more information become available.
