Greg Taylor kept a joint meeting of The Kosciusko Rotary and Lions clubs spellbound Tuesday as he told his story of summiting Mount Everest.

Taylor, a Mississippian, described the base camps, ice fields, the death zone and his 20 minutes on the summit. Taylor made the accent in May of 2025 when he was 60 years old.

The crowd also got to see and even “try on” some of his clothing and equipment used in the climb. Dr Stephen Rea is pictured below wearing the backpack that made the accent.

Taylor is manager at Timber Creek Camp in Scott County. Darren Milner with The Bank of Commerce made the connection and hosted the program. Some audio excerpts from the program are also below.
