Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music “Sacred” Groundbreaking Ceremony (Photos, Audio)

(Brian Montgomery) Christmas came early for Marty Stuart, the city of Philadelphia, Neshoba County and the world for that matter Monday afternoon when Marty and officials broke ground on phase two of Congress of Country Music on Monday.

Dressed in black, the man I’ve always respected for his devotion to preservation of country music made the moment complete for all in attendance when he poured some dirt from the gravesite of Jimmy Rodgers into his cowboy hat before adding it to the soil as he broke ground. Surrounded and supported by the community, members of the board and guest, the ceremony was followed with speakers, a musical performance and more. Phase two is set for early spring and Marty discussed it and more during a recent interview I had with him.
