Due to severe thunderstorms and damaging winds, Central Electric Power Association
experienced sustained power outages throughout its seven county service area. CEPA

Leake Sheriff Atkinson – Additional Downed Trees, Powerlines, Near Lena, and Walnut Grove- Please Stay Off The Roads
More downed trees and power lines being reported in the Lena, Walnut Grove and Carthage area. Sheriff Atkinson is asking everyone to stay off the roads if at all possible in these areas as they work to remove trees and assess power lines.

Major power outages are being reported in the Leake county area especially the Carthage area. We will keep you updates as the storm passes through. Storms are continuing to pass through the area until around 6pm according to the National Weather Service in Jackson.

Severe Weather Likely – Enhanced Risk
Severe thunderstorms are likely this afternoon into evening. Damaging winds up to 70 mph and hail up to the size of golf balls are likely, but tornadoes are possible. We remain under a tornado watch until 4pm. Timeline for the storm is until 6pm.
