WALNUT GROVE, Miss.–A car crashed through a building near the Walnut Grove city limits Saturday night. The person who called 911 told dispatchers it happened across the road from 2040 Hwy. 35 south.
Walnut Grove Police reported to Leake County deputies that a white male was seen running down the road. That person was believed to be the driver.
A deputy canceled the ambulance that was dispatched since the driver had no apparent injuries, as he was running down the road. However, deputies were not able to locate him. A person called in to dispatch and said the driver got into a red Toyota headed toward Carthage. The man driving the Toyota was the man who owned the building that was victim to the crash.
A deputy waited near the Carthage city limits to wait for him.
“That’s a heckuva person to get a ride from,” said one deputy.
“He picked the wrong man,” responded another deputy.
Just before 11 p.m. a deputy reported the man was in custody. It wasn’t clear if he was booked on any charges.
It wasn’t clear from radio communication what caused the crash.
A wrecker was called to pull the vehicle out just after 10 p.m.
