The Leake Academy varsity basketball teams traveled to Pelahatchie tonight to play the Patriots of East Rankin Academy. The Lady Rebels were first on the hardwood playing the Lady Patriots and would fall short to East Rankin by 6 points, 68-62. The Lady Rebels trailed the Lady Patriots by 13 points at halftime but cut into the East Rankin lead late in the game pulling to within 6 points when the buzzer sounded. With tonight’s loss the Lady Rebels fall to 12-3 overall and 2-1 in district play.
The Men’s team had no problems with the Patriots jumping out to a 45 point lead at halftime, 55-10 and the Rebels continued to dominate the game in the second half winning the contest by 37 points, 64-27.
Our next broadcast of Leake Academy Basketball on Cruisin 98 will be three weeks from tonight Friday, January 5 when the Rebels host the Simpson Academy Cougars from Mendenhall in Madden. Tipoff of the varsity girls game scheduled for 6:00pm.
