The Leake Academy basketball teams traveled to Simpson Academy in Mendenhall today with both varsity girls and boys games broadcast live on Cruisin 98 with video streaming on kicks98news.com. The MAIS number one ranked Leake Academy Lady Rebels improved their season record to 23-0 defeating the Lady Cougars of Simpson by 23 points, 53-30. The Rebels and the Cougars played a very close game throughout the contest with the outcome not decided until the last second ticked off the clock. The Rebels had a last second basket blocked that would have given them a one point win but instead the Cougars got the victory by 1 point, 42-41. Our next broadcast of Leake Academy varsity basketball on Cruisin 98 with be next Tuesday, January 7th with tipoff set for 6:00pm when the teams travel to Pearl to play the Crusaders of Park Place Christian Academy.
