The Leake Academy varsity basketball teams competed this afternoon at the North 5A quarterfinals being played at East Rankin Academy in Pelahatchie. The Lady Rebels advanced to Friday’s semifinal game after defeating the Lady Volunteers of Starkville Academy by 34 points, 63-29. The Rebels played the Chiefs of Magnolia Heights Academy from Senatobia in a hard fought contest. The Rebels came through in the final seconds of the fourth quarter to win the game by 1 point, 42-41. The Lady Rebels will play Pillow Academy Friday afternoon at 4:00pm followed by the Rebels playing Heritage Academy will tipoff set for 6:30.
