The Leake Academy Varsity basketball teams traveled to Meridian tonight to play Lamar School. The Lady Rebels had no trouble improving to 17-0 on the season defeating the Lady Raiders by 37 points, 73-36. The Rebels and Raiders played the most exciting game of the night. The Raiders were up by 9 points after the opening quarter, 21-12 over the Rebels but the Rebels battled back in the second quarter and were up by 6 points at halftime, 39-33. The Rebels held a 6 point lead to start the 4th quarter but the Raiders played back to tie the game with less than 2 seconds remaining,61-61 and scored the winning basket before time expired to upset the Rebels 63-61. The Rebels are now 10-3 and 1-1 on the season. Our next broadcast of Leake Academy basketball on Boswell Media Sports will be Thursday, December 19th at 6:00pm when the Rebels will host the Patriots of East Rankin Academy from Pelahatchie.
