CARTHAGE, Miss.–A man who was hearing voices after doing drugs was calmed by a Leake County deputy so medics could take him to the hospital.

The call was Saturday afternoon just after 5:30 on Pepper Ridge Rd. The dispatcher told deputies that the man, with whom they were already familiar, had done meth laced with heroin and was hearing voices tell him to kill people.

The EMS crew that was called out requested deputies go in ahead of them to make sure it was safe.

The deputy on the scene first was familiar with the man and his situation and radioed in that he had never seen him in that bad of shape, but had him calm and waiting on paramedics.
