Rebels Win Defeat Lamar Raiders 35-34

The Leake Academy Rebels traveled to Meridian tonight to play the Raiders of Lamar High School hoping to move to the front of MAIS 5A District 2 with a victory over the powerful Raiders. Both teams entered the game 5-3 overall but the Raiders were undefeated in district 2. The Rebels were trailing Lamar by 1 point at halftime, 21-20. Both teams scored touchdowns in the 3rd quarter but the Rebels got the two point conversion to tie the Raiders going into the final quarter. Both teams would again score a touchdown in the 4th  quarter but the Raiders missed their point after touchdown giving the Rebels a 1 point lead, 35-34. The Rebels maintained ball control in the final minutes of the game and were close to another score when time expired. The Rebels return home next Friday night for the final game of the regular season hosting the Cougars of Simpson Academy from Mendenhall. Kickoff set for 7:00pm with the Boswell Media Sports pregame show on the air at 6:10pm on Cruisin 98.
