CARTHAGE, Miss.–Two families had rough Independence Day evenings in Carthage, with police responding to both.

The first was just after 6:30 when a woman called for police on Cotton Blvd., saying the father of her children was trying to stab her.

Though an ambulance was sent and one person was taken to ail, it was unclear from police radio communication exactly what happened.

Just after 7:30 a call came in to 911 saying that a man and woman were fighting on North Jordan St.

About three minutes later the man was reported dragging the woman up the road by her hair.

Police reported back that the fight was still going on.
