Carthage Firefighters Fight Stove Fire, Investiigate Gas Smell

CARTHAGE, Miss.–Someone’s stove caught fire at a residence on Dickens St. Saturday morning.

The stove fore was reported just before 10 a.m. and Cathage volunteers and full-time firefighters responded, with Atmos notified about the gas stove.

At the same time in an unrelated call, someone reported the smell of gas at Cash Save.

While dispatch also notified Atmos about that a police officer realized it was gasoline that the person was smelling at Cash Save, not natural gas.

Gasoline was spilled in the parking lot and was promptly cleaned up.
