18-Wheeler VS Car – 2 in hospital

3:14 a.m. – Leake County Deputies responded to a call reporting trespassing on a property on Highway 429 in the Thomastown area.

6:06 a.m. – Carthage Police, Emergency Medical Services, Carthage Fire Department, and Carthage Volunteers were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 35 South and Highway 25 North when they received reports of a two-vehicle accident. An 18-wheeler and a vehicle collided, trapping one individual who had to be cut from the vehicle. Two individuals were transported to the hospital.

8:01 a.m. – Carthage Police, Emergency Medical Services, and Carthage Fire Department responded to a call reporting a two-vehicle accident on Highway 35 South near Wheel-In Grocery. It was stated that an 18-wheeler may have merged and struck the other vehicle involved in the accident. No one was injured.

9:36 a.m. – Leake County Deputies responded to a call reporting a disturbance in progress at a residence on Highway 16 East in the Edinburg area.

1:59 p.m. – Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call reporting a woods fire that had gotten out of control on Laurel Hill Road near Jolly Road. Farm equipment was in danger of being damaged by the fire. Fire fighters were able to get the fire under control and put out the flames before it reached the equipment.

5:24 p.m. – Carthage Police responded to a minor two-vehicle accident on Highway 16 West near Chicken Nugget. No injuries were reported.
