WEIR, Miss.–A man from McCool has been charged in the New Year’s Eve killing of a man in Weir.
WTVA reports the man arrested was Kentavious Merritt, 24. He has been charged with second-degree murder and possession and use of a machine gun conversion device, sometimes referred to as a Glock switch.
The man killed was identified as Caden Yarbrough, 19. Police Chief Dillon Cates told the TV station that the two men knew each other and the shooting happened during an argument of some kind during an outdoor gathering shortly before midnight on Thomas Circle.
Merritt is being held on a $1 million bond.
