Jonathan Dees, 42, has been arrested by the Attala County Sheriff’s Office and charged with two counts of sexual battery of a child under the age of 14 and two counts of statutory rape. He is currently been held at the Leake County Correctional Facility with a total bond amount of $400,000.
Dees is currently employed as a lieutenant with the Attala County Fire Department who has released this statement regarding his arrest.
The press release states the following:
“On Thursday, July 23, 2026, Lieutenant Jonathan Dees was arrested as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
Because the investigation is active, the department is unable to comment on the allegations or release any additional details at this time.
As with any criminal case, all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Dees remains an employee of the department while the legal process continues. Any employment decisions will be made based on the outcome of the investigation and department, county policy.
The Attala County Fire Department remains committed to serving the citizens of Attala County, and emergency services continue without interruption.”
