Two shootings were reported within minutes of each other Sunday night, Jan. 11, along Old Canton Rd.
The first shooting was reported at 11:38 p.m. at a home near Hayes St. within the city limits. Carthage Police Officers arrived to find a woman who had been shot through her bedroom window. She was bleeding, and officers applied a tourniquet before she was transported by ambulance to a Jackson hospital.
A second shooting was reported at 11:47 p.m. at a residence on Old Canton Rd. near Chipley St., approximately a mile away in the county. Leake County Deputies, Carthage Police, and EMS were dispatched to the scene. Two victims from the second shooting were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Law enforcement believes the two shootings are connected, though the motive remains unknown. No arrests have been made.
