Burn Ban in Effect for Leake County Through November 15

SHARE NOW

A burn ban is in effect for Leake County due to extremely dry conditions and an increased risk of wildfires. The ban is scheduled to remain in place through November 15, unless conditions improve and it is lifted early.

Outdoor burning of leaves, brush, debris, and other materials covered by the ban is prohibited. You should also use caution with equipment that may produce sparks and be sure to properly dispose of cigarettes.

Authorities are urging the public to take the ban seriously and warn that even a small fire can quickly spread and put homes, property, and lives in danger. Anyone who sees a fire spreading or getting out of control should call 911 immediately.
