Carthage Fire Chief, Lonzo Jones tells Kicks 96 News that the Leake County Board of Supervisors has issued a burn ban that begins today, Monday, September 18th and expires Monday, October 16th. If deemed necessary, the expiration date may be extended.
No burn permits will be issued during this time and anyone caught in violation of the burn ban may be fined up to $500 per violation.
