Central Electric Power Association is closely monitoring the potential for winter weather across central Mississippi this weekend.
Unlike snow, ice is extremely heavy. Even a thin layer of ice can add significant weight to power lines and tree limbs. Ice can also make restoration more challenging.
Our crews are prepared and ready to respond. We encourage our members to stay weather-aware and be prepared especially if you require medical equipment.
If you use a generator during this winter storm:
DO: Shut off main breakers before using generators for the safety of your family, first-responders and utility workers.
DON’T: Pull off the electric meter.
If you are unsure about the safety of your generator setup, we recommend consulting an electrician.
Restoring power safely and promptly is our top priority. In the event of a power outage, Central Electric crews will respond as soon as the conditions are safe.
If you experience an outage, you can report it by:
Text: Once enrolled, simply text “OUT” to 866-846-5671
Website: www.centralepa.com (click on Report an Outage)
Phone: 601-267-3043
As a safety reminder, please stay away from downed power lines. We encourage all our members to stay off the roads to allow emergency responders and line crews to safely do their jobs.
