As a result of winning the Central 5A District Championship, the Leake Academy Rebels have earned a bye in the first round of the MAIS 5A Football Playoffs.
That means the team will be off this Friday, Nov. 1 and won’t play again until Friday, Nov. 8 at Thaggard Field in Madden.
When the #3 Seeded Rebels do take the field again, it will be against one of two familiar opponents.
Leake will face off against the winner of the Round 1 game between #6 Seed Simpson Academy and #11 Seed Heritage Academy.
The Rebels have already played both those teams this season, shutting out Simpson 27-0 this past Friday and falling to Heritage 28-25 on the final play of the game Friday, Sept. 20.
