Driving Under the Influence – power pole & lines damaged

At approximately 11:09 p.m. on Monday January 17th Leake County Deputies, Barnes Volunteer Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services responded to a call reporting a one-vehicle crash on Revere Road off Highway 429. The call came in only minutes after another call reporting an intoxicated individual traveling on Highway 429 toward Carthage. The vehicle involved in the accident left the road and struck a power pole. The power pole broke near the ground and power lines landed on the vehicle. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries from the crash and was later taken into custody for driving under the influence. The utility company was called to the scene of the crash to repair the damaged electrical wires and power pole.
