Emergency Crews Respond to Multiple Incidents in Leake County

Leake County emergency responders were kept busy on Sunday, March 16, 2025, with multiple incidents reported throughout the day.

At 12:38 a.m., the Reformation Volunteer Fire Department quickly cleared a fallen tree on Reformation Rd. near Scott’s Crossing. Later, at 4 p.m., Carthage Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot, while Leake County Deputies were dispatched to Carpenter Rd. for a separate disturbance.

The most severe incident occurred at 9 p.m. when multiple fire departments, including Carthage Fire, Thomastown Volunteers, Leake Correctional Fire, and Barnes Volunteers, battled a mobile home fire on Dossville Rd. The blaze is said to have started at the breaker box. The home was fully engulfed when crews arrived. Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby structures.
