Father Charged with Murder in Death of Infant Following Kosciusko Incident

A Leake County man is now facing a murder charge following the death of his infant child, according to Kosciusko Police Chief Greg Collins.

Authorities say the child, identified by Attala County Coroner Sam Bell as 7-month-old Ky’Ric Banks, died from injuries sustained during the incident that occurred Thursday, March 26, 2026, at a Kosciusko hotel.

The child’s father, 25-year-old Jeremiah Banks of Leake County, was initially charged with domestic violence – aggravated assault. Following the infant’s death, that charge has been upgraded to murder.

Banks is currently being held on a $1 million bond.
