The Sam Presley VFW Post 4970 on Hwy. 35 near Pleasant Hill Road caught fire on Tuesday afternoon, July 21.
The Carthage Fire Department responded to the scene along with Leake Correctional Volunteer Fire Department and Walnut Grove Fire Department.
One firefighter was reportedly transported to the hospital by ambulance due to heat exposure, and is now home recovering.
The building appears to have suffered significant damage. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
