A former coach for the Carthage High School girls basketball team is going into the Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame.
Mike Chambliss was announced Tuesday as one of six inductees into the organization’s Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
A native of Jackson, Chambliss coached at Clinton Junior High before arriving at Carthage High School in 1990.
He would coach the girls’ basketball team for the next seven seasons, amassing a record of 118 wins and 101 losses with a division title in 1991 and division runner-up finishes in 1992, 1993, and 1994.
After leaving Carthage, Chambliss would go on coach basketball, softball, and track at Clinton, Richland, and Pelahatchie.
Other inductees in the MAC Class of 2024 Hall of Fame are Lee Berryhill, Gene Delcomyn, Michels Fields, Jerry Long, and Harold Liggans.
Hall of Fame inductees will be honored at a banquet Friday, June 21 in Jackson.
