The National Weather Service is putting Leake County back under a heat advisory today with the heat index climbing as high as 110 this afternoon. The dangerous heat stress will extend to the south and west with the Delta under an excessive heat warning for heat indices approaching 115. There’s also a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms today across parts of the local area with the storm threat more widespread on Wednesday.
