A high-speed chase on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, ended with the arrest of Jacoby Lavon McCallum after he fled from a Leake County Deputy on Hwy 25 North.
The deputy attempted to stop a red Chevrolet Impala for speeding, but the driver refused to pull over, reaching speeds of over 100 mph.
The pursuit continued until the driver attempted a turn onto County Line Road, where he lost control and landed in a ditch. He managed to drive out and continued before stopping near Robinson Road.
McCallum was taken into custody without further incident. While being transported to the Leake County Correctional Facility, he reportedly remarked, “I should have just stopped.”
He is charged with fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer in a motor vehicle with reckless or willful disregard for safety, leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, two counts of failure to give signal, and failure to yield to emergency vehicles.
