On October 20, 2024, a deer hunter reported finding what appeared to be human remains on private property along Midway Road, located between Highway 16 and Highway 25.
Deputies responded to the scene and discovered a mostly intact body, though an identity could not be determined due to decomposition. The Leake County Coroner’s Office has taken the remains for transport to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Leake County Sheriff’s Office is treating the case as a death investigation.
