Investigators in Leake County are hoping for some help from the public in tracking down the thieves who stole an excavator from a local water association. It happened Sunday on Pleasant Hill Road in the Good Hope community north of Lena. There’s surveillance video showing the thieves hauling off the machine on a trailer pulled by an SUV with a car following behind. That trailer had also been stolen from a logging company on Highway 13. The video is posted on the sheriff’s department Facebook page and anyone who recognizes the vehicles or knows anything about the crime is being asked to come forward.
