This Saturday, June 28, the city of Philadelphia will honor one of its own with “Jarquez Hunter Day” at The Ellis Theater at Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music, celebrating the remarkable journey of former Neshoba Central High School star and current Los Angeles Rams running back, Jarquez Hunter.
Hunter, a Philadelphia native, left an indelible mark at Neshoba Central High School, earning the prestigious Mr. Football award for Class 5A as a senior.
During his final high school season, Hunter rushed for 1,687 yards and 22 touchdowns, breaking Marcus Dupree’s long-standing career touchdown record with 93 scores.
At Auburn University, Hunter continued to shine, amassing 3,371 rushing yards, ranking fourth in program history behind legends like Bo Jackson and Carnell Williams. As a freshman, he set an Auburn record with a 94-yard touchdown run against Alabama State.
His senior year in 2024 was a standout, earning him First-Team All-SEC honors with 1,201 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, showcasing his explosive speed and power.
Hunter’s talent and work ethic culminated in being selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round (117th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft, a move that saw the Rams trade up to secure him. Praised for his high character and athleticism, Hunter is seen as a dynamic addition to the Rams’ backfield, bringing speed (4.44-second 40-yard dash) and strength (squatting 600 pounds as a freshman).

The ceremony, starting at 11 AM, is open to the community and will feature highlights of Hunter’s illustrious football career, followed by an autograph session with the NFL rookie.
