The Leake Academy Varsity basketball teams opened play today in the State 5A Quarterfinals taking place at Pillow Academy In Greenwood. The #2 seed from the North 5A Lady Rebels played the # 3 seed from South Lady Cougars from Brookhaven Academy. The Lady Rebels would maintain a big lead throughout the contest and win by 17 points, 76-59. With tonight’s victory the Lady Rebels advance to the semifinal game on Friday afternoon at 2:15pm. The Leake Rebels, the #4 seed from the North faced the #1 seed from the South, the Yellowjackets of Oak Forrest Academy. After a close opening quarter between the teams the Yellowjackets took control of the game and went on the win the game by 31 points, 66-35. With tonight’s loss the season ends for the Leake Academy Rebels varsity men’s team.
