LA goes LEO

A combination of space technology, digital technology, and some old-fashioned muscle will all be a part of Friday night’s Leake Academy football broadcast.

Boswell Media Sports began audio streaming in 2006 and video streaming in 2016. Breck Riley of Boswell Media says, “We are now in the third generation of broadcast video systems. It hasn’t always been easy to get the proper bandwidth needed for the video broadcast.”

According to Mickey Coulter, “A constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites will be used to broadcast Friday night’s LA game.” Mickey spent 25 years with Verizon as a software and systems design developer. We are most honored and proud to have Mickey as a daily part of the Boswell Media technical team.

Melissa Boswell Townsend, who sits at the helm of Boswell Media, says, “Local sports is much more than a Friday night game. It’s about building and supporting our schools and communities.”

We hope you tune in on Friday for LA Football on the radio, online, or on one of our apps.

A special thanks to Boswell Media Engineer Billy Steen, Josh Ray, and Coach Turk Stovall for their help with the install.
