For the first time in the program’s history, the Leake Central Gators are district champions.
The team captured the Region 5-4A Championship Friday night with a 25-22 win against Newton County.
As district champs, the Gators will get a No. 1 seed in the postseason and home field advantage throughout the postseason.
The Gators (7-2) will wrap up the regular season Thursday, Oct. 30 on the road against Northeast Lauderdale.
