A house fire on Welton Road off Highway 25 in Carthage left a home completely destroyed Wednesday evening, November 20. The Carthage Fire Department (CFD), Leake Correctional Fire Department, and volunteers from Barnes, Reformation, and Marydell responded to the blaze around 6 p.m.
The homeowner was present when the fire started but remains uncertain about the cause. CFD Chief Lonzo Jones confirmed the home was a total loss, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
