Leake First Responders Kept Busy Monday

Leake County emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle wreck on Hwy 16 E near Lobutcha just after 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10. One lane was temporarily blocked, but no injuries were reported.

Later, officers & deputies were asked to investigate smoke that was spotted near the Hwy 35 S bridge and found a small campfire.

Deputies also responded to a hunting property on Old Pickens Rd. after a caller reported attempted forced entry and a damaged four-wheeler ignition.

At 6:15 p.m., deputies were called to Duncan Rd. after a homeowner saw a flashlight on their property. The suspect fled when confronted by the homeowner, and deputies went to check the area for trespassers.

At 10:35 p.m., deputies responded to a home on Carson Rd., where the homeowner reported missing belongings upon arrival. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
