The threat of severe weather today continues. The National Weather Service has placed a large part of Mississippi– including this area– under a Level 3 “enhanced risk” of severe storms. Damaging wind gusts and tornadoes will be possible as storms tracking across the state intensify. There’s a possibility of a strong tornado (EF-2 or EF-3). A wind advisory is also in effect with gusts of 40 to 50 miles an hour possible even before the storms arrive. In Lowndes County last night, winds knocked a tree down onto a mobile home at New Hope, splitting it in half. The people living there were not hurt.
