Man Arrested for Attempted Car Break-Ins in Philadelphia

An off-duty Philadelphia Police officer spotted a man attempting to open car doors in the Walmart parking lot on Friday, Feb. 7 at around 7 p.m.

The suspect, later identified as Timmy Eichelberger of Noxapater, was seen using his t-shirt to avoid leaving fingerprints while trying to enter locked vehicles.

The officer notified on-duty police, who arrived and took Eichelberger into custody. He was charged with Automotive Breaking and Entering and transported to the Leake County Correctional Facility.

Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons stated the department is working with Walmart to review surveillance footage and determine how many vehicles were targeted.

The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed.
