On Wednesday afternoon, a house fire broke out on Pleasant Grove Road, just off Highway 35. Fortunately, no one was home at the time, and there were no reported injuries.

The fire is believed to have started in a room at the back of the house due to an electrical issue, according to responders on the scene. While the portion of the home where the blaze began is now unlivable, the structure itself was not a total loss.

Reformation volunteers, Carthage Fire Department, Leake Correctional Volunteers, and Barnes Volunteers all responded to the scene and helped to bring the fire under control.
