The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is pleased to announce that $3 million in funding has been secured to proceed with major infrastructure repairs at Neshoba County Lake, a popular 138-acre state fishing destination located in Philadelphia.
The funding was successfully obtained through a strategic partnership between the Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund (MOSTF) and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).
MDWFP extends its sincere appreciation to Representative C. Scott Bounds and Senator Lane Taylor for their dedicated efforts and steadfast commitment in securing the essential state and federal financial resources needed to carry out this conservation project.
Engineering and pre-construction planning on the $3 Million dam and spillway renovation and repair are currently underway, with official construction scheduled to begin in early 2027. The project is expected to take approximately one year to complete.
While the fishing lake remains temporarily closed during this period, surrounding recreational amenities remain open.
MDWFP is committed to restoring Neshoba County Lake as a premier fishery for Mississippi anglers while upholding the highest standards of safety and natural resource management.
